THE ART SALE
Horns + Honks
Noah Simpson and John Mosser
Art Sales proceeds generate direct income for the participating artists and support opportunities aligned with artists' individual goals and dreams.
Noah is a trumpet player and composer that has performed with renowned musicians and toured around the country with a variety of ensembles. He regularly performs around Portland with Jazz ensembles and is a fixture of the Portland Jazz community sharing his passion for Black American music. He will be bringing one of John Mosser’s noisy truck drawings to life with his horn. John is a self-taught artist widely recognized for his extraordinary and prolific body of work, centered on dynamic studies of trucks. Evocative of a cubist sensibility, John translates the three-dimensional experience of place and movement into compelling two-dimensional compositions. His seemingly kinetic works reveal a deep fascination with motion and machinery, transforming mechanical subjects into vibrant, expressive forms.
Strings + Wild Flowers
Cecille Elliott and Dan Tran
Cecille is a multifaceted musician specializing in voice, violin, and
viola. Throughout her music career she has performed in a spectrum
of venues from orchestra halls and auditoriums to pubs and open mics. She spends much of her free time buried in various forms of creative writing, and building her skills as a visual artist and is excited to be bringing the calming fields of wild flowers drawn by Dan Tran to life with her instruments. Dan is a multimedia artist who works across origami, drawing, painting, and ink. Dan is known for his resilience of spirit, which is reflected in the joyful, color-rich way
he captures often heavy and complex subject matter.
Wind + Whimsy
Hailey Niswanger + Deanna Weisenhaus
Saxophonist and composer, Hailey Niswanger, has toured around the world with Esperanza Spalding and performed alongside jazz legends in an impressive list of venues across the nation. Additionally she performs with her band MAE.SUN, an eclectic ensemble that defies genres and plays all original music. Hailey is thrilled to weave together sounds that are inspired by Deanna Weisenhaus’ whimsical drawing. Deanna is a self-taught artist whose practice is rooted in observation
and shaped by emotion. Her work draws inspiration from the quiet beauty of the everyday; the architecture of domestic life, places lived and visited, and the local flora and fauna that shape her environment. Her practice is bold yet sensitive, playful yet contemplative.
Your Gift + Impact
